A microcontroller is a small computer on a single integrated circuit. In modern terminology, it is similar to, but less sophisticated than, a system on a chip or SoC; an SoC may include a microcontroller as one of its components. Download Advanced Microprocessors and Microcontrollers book written by B. The book is written for an undergraduate course on the microprocessor and microcontroller. It provides comprehensive coverage of the hardware and software aspects of microprocessor and microcontroller.
The book is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on microprocessor. It teaches you the architecture, instruction set, Assembly Language Programming ALP , interfacing with support chips, memory and peripheral ICs - , , , , and It also explains the interfacing of with data converters - ADC and DAC - and introduces a temperature control system and data acquisition system design.
The second part focuses on microcontroller. It teaches you the architecture, instruction set, programming with ALP and C and interfacing with external memory. The book is divided into three parts. It teaches you the architecture, instruction set, Assembly Language Programming ALP , interfacing with support chips, memory, and peripherals such as , , , , and It also explains the interfacing of with data converters - ADC and DAC and introduces a traffic light control system.
The third part focuses on microcontroller. It teaches you the architecture, instruction set, programming and interfacing with external memory. Its lucid explanation and strong features such as design-based exercises, ample examples, review questions and assembly language programming examples lay a solid foundation for the subject.
The text comprehensively covers both the hardware and software aspects of the subject with equal emphasis on architecture, programming and interfacing. All concepts are presented with worked-out examples and programs. This book provides the students with a solid foundation in the technology of microprocessors and microcontrollers, their principles and applications. The book throughout maintains an appropriate balance between the basic concepts and the skill sets needed for system design.
Besides, the book lucidly explains the hardware architecture, the instruction set and programming, support chips, peripheral interfacing, and cites several relevant examples to help the readers develop a complete understanding of industrial application projects.
Several system design case studies are included to reinforce the concepts discussed. Time and frequency domain techniques of analysis and design of control systems have been exhaustively treated and their interrelationship established. Adequate breadth and depth is made available for second course. The coverage includes digital control systems: analysis, stability and classical design; state variables for both continuous-time and discrete-time systems; observers and pole-placement design; Liapunov stability; optimal control; and recent advances in control systems: adaptive control, fuzzy logic control, neural network control.

The problems also are suitable for beginners and are not very extensive. It can very easily develop concepts as the fundamentals are explained concisely and in an understanding manner.
It is also a simpler book but with extensive problems with solutions. It's tough to understand because the subject itself is highly conceptual and requires deep study. The practice exercises of this book would give you a solid basis in SS. Another book to read is Linear Signals and systems by Lathi. Do not go for Simon Haykin. It is not for beginners. This is the best book in the area of signals and systems. I find this book very easy to understand and quite good.
Every chapter includes so many problems so that you get a good grasp of the subject.
